PRIVACY
POLICY
This is the real policy. We've tried to write it in a way that's actually readable. The short version: we collect what we need to run the service, we don't sell your data, and you stay in control of your location information. The long version follows.

1. Who We Are
Groove is a product of AI Could Never, Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Venice, California. References to "Groove," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to AI Could Never, Inc. and our Groove application and related services.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use the Groove mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information we collect automatically when you use the Service, and information from third parties.
Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address, username, and password when you create an account.
- Profile information: Name, profile photo, city or neighborhood, and any other information you choose to add to your profile.
- Communications: Messages you send through the Service, feedback, and any communications with us.
- Early access sign-up: Email address and optional city when you request early access.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: When you grant permission, we collect your device's precise location to show you nearby users, routes, and events. You control whether this is active at all times or only while using the app. We do not collect location data in the background without your explicit permission.
- Movement and activity data: Routes you record, sessions you log, and activities you mark as public or private.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and network information.
- Usage data: Features you use, content you view, time spent in the app, and interaction patterns.
- Log data: IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and error logs for security and debugging purposes.
Information from Third Parties
If you choose to connect third-party accounts (such as signing in with Apple or Google), we receive limited profile information as permitted by your settings on those platforms. We do not receive your passwords from third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Groove Service
- Show you nearby users, routes, and events based on your location preferences
- Enable communication between users
- Send service-related notifications and updates
- Personalize your experience within the Service
- Analyze usage to improve features and fix problems
- Ensure the safety and security of the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your personal information to serve you advertising from third-party advertisers.
4. Location Data — Specifically
Location is central to how Groove works, so we want to be especially clear about this:
- Opt-in, always. We request location permission; we never assume it.
- You control sharing. Sharing your real-time location with other users is always opt-in and can be turned off at any time in settings.
- Background location. If you grant background location access (for session tracking), we collect it only while a session is active. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.
- Route history. Routes you record are stored in your account. You can delete them at any time. Routes you mark as public may be visible to other users in the community map; private routes are only visible to you.
- Precision. We use precise location for the core functionality of the app. We do not sell precise location data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time, which will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer. Route data, activity history, and profile information are all deleted when you delete your account.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information. You can delete your account directly in the app.
- Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
- Objection: Object to certain uses of your information.
- Withdrawal of consent: Where we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@groove.life. We will respond within 30 days.
8. California Residents — CCPA
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: You can request information about the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. This right is therefore not applicable, but we affirm it explicitly.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
- Sensitive Personal Information: We collect precise geolocation data, which is considered sensitive personal information under CPRA. You can limit our use of this data by adjusting your location settings in the app.
To make a verifiable consumer request under CCPA, contact us at legal@groove.life.
9. Children's Privacy
Groove is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at legal@groove.life.
Users under the age of 18 should have parental consent before using Groove.
10. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.
No method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of Groove after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
